Call for Submissions: Blackbook Publications

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

Blackbook Publications is a distribution network created by and for independent publishers of Artists books.

Our aim is to collaborate with Artists that work with books that lacks distribution and to give them the possibility to find their way out to museum shops, bookstores and collectors.

Blackbook Publication grows by voting. This means that if you want to become a part of our distribution network with your planed publication, it will be reviewed by the number of Artists so far published at Blackbook. This is how we secure our artistic vision and quality.

Do you want to be a part of Blackbook?
We are constantly expanding our network and always looking for new material and wider ways of distrubuting books by independent publishers. Don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you are interested in a collaboration.

Opening reception: December 6, 7pm–12am

Humble Arts Foundation and Mark Batty Publisher announce “A Field Guide to the North American Family: The Exhibition.” An opening reception will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2007 at Gallery Bar on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, and the show will run through Wednesday, January 2, 2008; this pin-up series features the work of the artists included in Garth Risk Hallberg’s A Field Guide to the North American Family.

In sixty-three entries and an accompanying website (afieldguide.com), Hallberg’s novella offers a collaborative portrait of two fictional specimens and the environments they inhabit. Both established and up-and-coming photographers contributed to this edition’s lavish illustrations via the website, an ongoing, networked internet community. Part fiction, part reference work, part photo-essay, the book and exhibition invite viewers to consider the contemporary state of the American family.
Featuring the work of: Amy Elkins, Jonathan Gitelson, Jason Lazarus, Matt Nighswander, Tema Stauffer, Alana Celii, Alexis Pike, Ben Huff, Brandon Sorg, Brian Sorg, Catherine Gass, Chris Eichler, Christopher Salyers, Christy Karpinski, Colleen Plumb, Consider Vosu, Elizabeth Fleming, Grant Willing, Hans Gindlesberger, Jason Curtis, Jason Falchook, Jennifer Greenberg, Jessica Bruah, JJ Sulin, John Putnam, Kara Canal, Kevin Sisemore, Liz Kuball, Matthew Schenning, Maury Gortemiller, Michael Kwiecinski, Nicholas Meyer, Rebecca Blume Rothman, Sandy Carson, Shane Lavalette, Shawn Records, Stacy Arezou Mehrfar and Timothy Briner.
