Scholarship: Transcultural Exchange 2009 Conference

We at Transcultural Exchange would like to announce a wonderful new scholarship opportunity. Thanks to an anonymous donor, we can now offer need based scholarships (1/2 the price of the $265 registration, or $130) to TransCultural Exchange 2009 Conference on International Opportunities in Arts.

These scholarships are only available to artists with an income of $30K or less. (Please note the $130 balance will need to be paid by check, made out to TransCultural Exchange, OR make a $130 donation with a notation about the scholarship at http://transculturalexchange.org/donation_intro.htm and received at our offices by April 1.)

Announcements of scholarship winners will be made no later than March 21.

Call for Submissions: CPW Photographers’ Fellowship Fund

Established in 1980, the Photographers’ Fellowship Fund helps support and recognize the accomplishments of photo-based artists living in upstate New York. Two fellowships of $1,000 will be awarded this yearand presented at CPW’s Benefit Auction on October 11, 2008. We are honored to have as our 2008 Juror, Leslie K. Brown, curator of the Photographic Resource Center at Boston University. Known for innovative and engaging exhibitions, the PRC’s gallery program has garnered consistently positive regional and national press under Brown’s guidance.

Call to Artists for Atlantic Works Gallery’s next juried exhibit: Safe

ABOUT SAFE

What images do you conjure when you think ’safe’? A bank vault, a
mother’s embrace, a military encampment, beige? Is safe truly
attainable? In our third Juried Exhibit, Atlantic Works Gallery is
asking artists to describe this debatable state of being.

Exhibition Dates: August 1- 30, 2008
Entries must be received by: Thursday, May 15, 2008
Entry Fee: $25 for 1-3 and $35 for 4-6 pieces
Best of Show Award: $100, two Honorable Mentions: $50 each
Opening Reception: Friday, August 1, 6-9 pm

Laura McPhee is a professor of Photography at Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston. Her work is in numerous public collections, most notably the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, the J. Paul Getty Center Museum, Los Angeles, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.

13th Annual PRC Juried Exhibition

“Each year, the PRC is pleased to host a juried exhibition with a nationally-renowned juror. Begun in 1996, the PRC Juried Exhibition highlights midcareer artists and “ones to watch.” Newly dubbed EXPOSURE in celebration of the PRC’s 30th anniversary, we are pleased to have as our 2008 juror, Lesley A. Martin, Publisher, Aperture Book Program.
